Who We Are
Our Mission
Reimagining Connection in the age of Loneliness
At Strangers in the City, we believe that adult loneliness is one of the biggest invisible challenges of modern life. We exist to change that—through play, conversation, and shared experiences that help people connect in meaningful ways.
We’re building a space where it’s normal to turn up alone. No awkward social pressure. just genuine human moments.
Why We Started
It Started With a Simple Question:
"What if everyone came alone?"
Too many adults feel disconnected, especially in big cities. We saw how hard it was to make new friends after a certain age, and how few spaces actually encourage connection. So we built one.
A place where every event is designed to help strangers meet. Where you don’t need to bring a friend. And where loneliness isn’t a label — it’s just your starting point.
The Impact
Improved mental health
Guests report feeling lighter, more connected, and more confident after just one event.
01
A smarter way to tackle loneliness
We work with our partners to a safe and welcoming environment to build relationships and rediscover the joy of face-to-face interaction.
02
A more connected city
Few spaces exist specifically for us to foster friendships. We combat the isolation that often accompanies modern urban living in a post-pandemic world.

What People Are Saying
Find out about the great things people are saying about the events that we host at Strangers in the City.
Honestly I was so pleasantly surprised by how easy and chill the vibe was, the games really facilitated conversation and the time flew by. We really were yapping! I would have like it to be longer but understand most of us had work the next day. Overall, huge thanks Zainab and Chanté for organising this event, it’s a great idea and you were both so lovely and welcoming. I’ll deffo be keeping an eye out for future events.
